PENSACAN

Calling all CANchitects and CANgineers! Assemble your build team and help us Demolish Hunger, Design Hope in this year's PensaCAN competition.

PensaCAN is a competition where teams create impressive structures made entirely out of full cans of food. Following a week-long display of the structures and voting, all food is then donated to Manna for distribution to our neighbors in need in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Registration is open to ANYONE...architects, intern architects, engineers, designers, contractors, local businesses, professors, teachers, students, or anybody, anywhere, that wants to form a team and help the local community.

Do not have a team but still want to build? Register as an individual and we will match you up with a team!

The display and on-site location is the Cordova Mall, but off-site and digital builds can take place anywhere (just follow the directions/requirements on the Info Packet Coversheet and Judging Guidelines).

Awards will be presented in eight categories.

Not a builder but still want to help? Great sponsorships are available, or you can make a donation HERE (use the "in honor of" field and type "PensaCAN").

Help us break 20,000 meals this year!

Build team registration is open!

JULY CE LUNCHES

CARBON 101: What It Is and How To Talk About It

Course Number

CE-U48782

As awareness about the impact of carbon emissions grows, companies in every sector and of every size are setting goals to reduce their climate impact. But how are those goals set, how do you track progress, where do you start, and why take on the challenge? This course defines and contextualizes carbon, explains the impact of human activity on the natural carbon cycle, and provides insight into how companies can measure and reduce their climate impact. Then the discussion turns to carbon emissions in the design and construction industry, and why they matter so much in the context of a changing climate. This course offers the building and design community opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and foster healthier human communities at the same time. This presentation closes with tools and resources for participants to learn more and act on the most urgent source of greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment industry, the carbon impact of building materials.
