• Examine coastal conditions and climate challenges and how to address these with building materials
• Learn about innovative approaches to making buildings more resilient
• Define wind zone requirements and standards for coastal and hurricane-prone areas in Florida and Texas
• Discuss how impact and wind-rated windows and doors are designed
Understanding Today’s Sealants
This course will consider today’s sealants and how they play a part in the building assembly. It will explain the different features and benefits as well as their specific contribution to a building’s strength, energy savings and protection.
Understanding Alternative Exterior Trim
Participants will compare and specify alternative exterior trim products, understand manufacturing, composition and performance of alternative (non-wood) trim products and compare green attributes.
Customizing Motorized Retractable Screens to Enhance Building Performance
Discover the various customization options of motorized retractable screens available in the industry and learn how the selected choices for integration deliver improved building performance and functionality. Participants will gain practical knowledge of design and planning considerations for motorized retractable screens that can help to create energy-efficient homes, maintain character of space and achieve sustainable design goals.
