Exterior Shutters: Past, Present and Future

This course will provide the historical evolution of exterior
shutters in relation to usage, materials, and construction
methods; and explore designs that incorporate exterior
shutters.  One Credit is provided.

Objectives:
1. Summarize origin of exterior shutters and identify
historical uses that led to incorporation in design.
2. Analyze material composition and construction
methods prior to 20th century.
3. Evaluate the progression of construction techniques
driven by introduction of new materials from 20th
century to today.
4. Explore how to include exterior shutters in designs in
order to influence art in architecture.
